I'm so happy with the first sock, and I even started working on the second one. The detail in the sock makes it look so much more complicated than it is. The pattern is really easy to knit. It's by Miriam Felton at http://www.mimknits.com and is called Simply Trekking Socks.

I'm also working on a simple scarf for my husband with a size 11 needle. It is amazing how different it feels to work on these needles after using the size 1 double points. Even though the scarf works up so quickly, it really isn't as satisfying to knit. To think that I used to refuse to knit on anything smaller than a six.

It is a hard decision whether I should use my time to blog or to knit. Time is at a premium, and reading which used to be my passion has been relegated to ten minutes before bed. This week, I chose knitting. The first sock is almost finished and I expect to graft the toe later this evening if I work while I watch TV this evening. If only multi-tasking worked with blogging.

There doesn't seem to be any 40 inch size one circular needles available except through online or catalogue sales. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and put in an order. Wooden, straight cable needles are also impossible to find. I wonder if anyone in NYC has both. The problem is that after buying them I might never use them. Part of the stash!
