I've decided that this is a great place to post my finished objects, so I can have the photos all in one place. I'm going to start with the last item I completed and try to add others as I finish them as well as older projects that I might want to refer back to. Let's see if this works.
Here's my latest quilt. The top was finished during the Fall session of the UFT quilting class, and I finished the quilting and binding it last night. It's the largest quilt I've done so far at sixty inches square.

I'm posting after all this time to see if the blog is still active. It's amazing to think that it could still work after this extended hiatus. Socks dominate my current knitting although charity knitting has taken over a lot of my knitting time. As part of the King's Isle Knitting and Crochet club, I've been knitting a hat and scarf set for the homeless. We've also started to knit and crochet "Knit Knockers" which work as comfortable breast prostheses for woman who have had  mastectomies. https://www.knittedknockers.org

I'm so happy with the first sock, and I even started working on the second one. The detail in the sock makes it look so much more complicated than it is. The pattern is really easy to knit. It's by Miriam Felton at http://www.mimknits.com and is called Simply Trekking Socks.

I'm also working on a simple scarf for my husband with a size 11 needle. It is amazing how different it feels to work on these needles after using the size 1 double points. Even though the scarf works up so quickly, it really isn't as satisfying to knit. To think that I used to refuse to knit on anything smaller than a six.

It is a hard decision whether I should use my time to blog or to knit. Time is at a premium, and reading which used to be my passion has been relegated to ten minutes before bed. This week, I chose knitting. The first sock is almost finished and I expect to graft the toe later this evening if I work while I watch TV this evening. If only multi-tasking worked with blogging.

There doesn't seem to be any 40 inch size one circular needles available except through online or catalogue sales. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and put in an order. Wooden, straight cable needles are also impossible to find. I wonder if anyone in NYC has both. The problem is that after buying them I might never use them. Part of the stash!

So, they were finally done. I had to rip out a whole evening's work because I had an extra stitch. They were great when they finally were finished and Jessica graciously agreed to model them, as you see in the picture. Now, I've started a pair of "Trekker" sox for my youngest niece, Marisa. The guys want pairs as well. I'm going to be very busy, but I'm staying away from the stretchy yarn. The pattern is Miriam Felton's "Simply Trekking Socks" and it is working up very nicely.

I went to the NYC Knit Out last weekend and was fascinated by Betsy Ioannou's demonstration of magic loop and two sock circular knitting. I thought I got the gist, but it doesn't work for me when I try it. I wonder if that's because my circular needles are over 40 years old? I never enjoyed circular knitting much, and found double point knitting to be easier. Just my luck, the new thing to try is knitting with circulars. Another challenge I've set myself up for. I think I'll just buy a new larger circular to try it again, and then see if it works.

I stopped knitting before to take a picture of Lula. She climbs over anything I'm doing if I'm in her path, and knitting is no exception.

I have been avoiding the socks, but Jessica's birthday is coming and I want to give her the socks as part of her present. I am looking forward to the Knit Out tomorrow. I've never gone to one. I don't know whether to bring the socks with me. I can see knitting on the subway, but I don't want to look silly walking around with them. Oh well, it is a knit out after all.

I finally learned how to add a picture, so here goes...
THE SOCKS!
